20th October 2016 – Thursday night
Woken in middle in the night – Speak Truth
Next morning 21st October I was
led to Scripture readings Ephesians 4:15-16 and 25 and Zechariah 8:16
1st Rule to be a
Servant of the Little Way – Speak Truth
Ephesians 4:15-16 “If we live by truth and
love we shall grow in all ways into Christ.”
Ephesians 4:25 “Speak the truth to one
another…even if you are angry, you must not sin – never let the sun set on your
anger.”
Zechariah 8:16 “These are the things you must
do. Speak truth to one another; let the
judgements at your gates be such as conduce to peace.
2nd Rule – Pray
often.
Psalm 4:4 “Spend your night in quiet
meditation”
Turn off the distractions.
3rd Rule – Be
holy.
Romans 1:4 “..it is about Jesus Christ our
Lord who, in the order of the spirit, the spirit of holiness that was in him,
was proclaimed Son of God in all his power through his resurrection from the
dead.”
1 Peter: 15 “be holy in all you do, since it
is the Holy One who has called you and scripture says Be holy, for I am holy.
Embrace the spirit of holiness – interior holiness – that others may see
the light of Jesus by the way you live your life.
4th Rule –
Obedience
1 Peter 1:14 “Make a habit of obedience” – submission of love to the Divine Will of
your Lord and God.
5th Rule -
Humility
1 Peter 5: 5-6 “Wrap yourselves in humility
to be servants of each other, because God refuses the proud and will always
favour the humble”
6th Rule –
Hospitality
Romans 12:13 “Share with any of God’s holy
people who are in need; look for opportunities to be hospitable.
7th Rule –
Servant’s heart
Philippians 2:3-7 “There must be no
competition among you, no conceit, but everybody is to be self-effacing. Always consider the other person to be better
than yourself, so that nobody thinks of his own interests first but everybody
thinks of other people’s interests instead. In your mind you must be the same
as Christ Jesus
His state was divine, yet he did not cling to
his equality with God but emptied himself to assume the condition of a slave
(servant).
8th Rule – Mercy
– be compassionate
Luke 6: 36-38 “Be compassionate as your
Father is compassionate. Do not judge
and you will not be judged yourselves; do not condemn and you will not be
condemned yourselves; grant pardon and you will be pardoned. Give and there will be gifts for you, a full
measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over will be poured into
your lap, because the amount you measure out is the amount you will be given
back”
9th Rule –
Communal Prayer
James 5: 13-18 “Sing psalms and prayers
together – the heartfelt prayer of a good man works powerfully”
10th Rule –
Confession – Examination of Conscience
Psalm 51- Miserere
Examine conscience before going to bed each night….confess your sins
often and ask pardon from the Lord your God.
